Projects
WSI: World Series of Innovation
The World Series of Innovation project was a group project where we had to identify a problem in the world and come up with a solution. My group decided that since we lived in California where wildfires were common, we were going to create a safe place for residents to seek shelter and safety. We came up with the FireHaven, an underground fireproof bunker. When we did some further research, we found out that similar bunker shelters already existed. But then we saw that those were made to be installed underground in private backyards. We decided to make our idea different because our FireHaven is open for entire communities. We made an advertisement and then submitted our idea to NFTE. This was overall a pretty interesting project to work on because we live pretty close to these wildfires. We live close enough where whenever one is started, our skies are filled with smoke. It is important that there is a way to keep the residents safe as those fires are burning.

Ted Talk
For this assignment, we had to each talk about a topic that we were passionate about. At first, it was kind of difficult for me to come up with an idea that I was comfortable talking about. I didn't really want what I was going to talk about to be too personal. I ended up talking about why we should spend more time with our families and not let whatever time we still have with them go to waste. This topic was kind of important to me and it is something that I try to do in my everyday life. It's an idea that has kind of been drilled into me by not just my family, but some social media influencers that I look up to as well. I thought that it was a good idea to share with the whole class.

Entrepreneur Research
I was able to work with Sarah on this project. The entrepreneur we did our research was Nash Grier. We thought that this was an interesting person to be learning about because we knew him from Vine and other social media platforms. We didn't really find out anything that we didn't already know about him. He made videos that he uploaded online and was in a couple of movies. He didn't own a business.I guess we learned that being an entrepreneur can be more than just starting a business or company. After doing our research, we created slides to share what we learned with the rest of the class.
Business Proposal
For this project, we had to create either a product or a service to pitch to the judges at NFTE. Sarah and I decided to come up with an app that would allow shopping to become a more fun and convenient experience. We created QuickFits. It is an app that would allow its users to take a picture of themselves and try on clothing without ever stepping foot into a fitting room. We used a lot of our personal experiences while doing this project. We realized that one annoying thing about shopping was that it was often difficult to find an entire outfit in one store. You would have to visit multiple stores, and aren't able to try the whole outfit on before buying. So we came up with QuickFits. This was a fun project to work on because it is an app that we would actually use in real life if it existed. It was also a very new and unique experience getting to pitch our app to the judges at NFTE. Overall, we had a pretty good time doing it.

7x7 Slides
This assignment required me to pick a product that I liked and to analyze the product itself, its target market, and the methods the company used to advertise. I chose to do my slides on Vans. I decided to do the sneakers made by Vans because I own multiple pairs of them and I see many people wear them on a daily basis. I learned a lot about how these shoes are made and how they have evolved throughout the years. It was cool to see how they make their sneakers and how they are different from other shoe companies.

SWOT Analysis
The SWOT analysis project was where I had to choose a product to analyze. I decided to do mine on the 2019 Chevy Silverado. I didn't know which product to choose and the example we were given was a Tesla, so I just chose a car that I liked and knew a lot about. I enjoyed doing this project because I would like to own one of these someday. I practically grew up in pickup trucks. We had a Frontier, Tundra, and now a Dodge Ram. It wasn't until recently that we got a BMW, which is great and all but these trucks still have my heart. It was nice doing a project on something that I actually liked.

Corporate Social Responsibility
I completed this project with my partner Masten. We did our presentation of Trader Joe's. We chose this store because we buy our groceries there often. I have always noticed that they package their foods differently than other grocery stores. They would have their own labels and own packaging for every product that they sold. I've wondered why this was for a long time, and found out the answer through this project. We learned that that by private labeling their foods, they are able to sell them for much lower prices, making it more affordable for families. We did a slide presentation on how they give back to the community and remain and environmentally friendly company.

Blog for Business Proposal
I had to write a blog for the product that I created for the Business Proposal project. I wrote about the app that Sarah and I created, QuickFits. I described briefly how it worked and the mission behind it. I had never written a blog before so I didn't really know what I was doing. I had read articles and other people's blogs in the past so I just kind of did what they did.
